Zu and Lu's Portrait
In 1990, I painted this small portrait of my two daughters. After all these years, it remains my favorite piece—my daily companion, hanging above my computer, never losing its charm or its pull on my heart.
Looking back, I realize my art has always been a kind of picture‑diary, while my writings have captured the thoughts behind the images. It’s funny how the smallest moments become little “dots” along the path of a life—dots that somehow reveal purpose, gratitude, and a quiet sense of direction.
For me, those two painted figures eventually evolved into the alien twins of my science‑fiction novel, The Chronicles of Zu and Lu, Vibes Gone Berjerk! They became more than characters; they became the spark behind my art.
Zu and Lu feel like mentors—dear friends who bring joy, mischief, and hope into my days. They remind me that things will work out, that brighter horizons always exist, and that caring deeply for one another is the real cosmic lesson.
Just like my two daughters, we are all family.
