This portrait of my wife is not her favorite. When finished, she said, “It doesn’t look like me!”
I told her, “If I wanted an exact image, I would have taken a photograph.” Contrary to her thinking, this painting is what I see of her every morning. A genuine love, finely molded over time by the heart.
I see this wonderful woman in shining smiling yellows. I feel her loving warmth in the glowing reds. The blues are her motherly love for her children and grandchildren. The greens are her zeal for living each day to its fullest. The oranges are her love for everyone she meets, regardless of who they are.
This is ART at its BEST. When looking at it, the beauty is hidden underneath.
